In this fast paced world, we are always feeling the need to rush, meet deadlines, and stick to schedules. At the Herndon Hideaway you get to retreat to the country and have the freedom to REST, UNPLUG, BREATHE, and soak in the simplicity of life! Our tiny home is located inside a pecan orchard. The land brings peace and comfort and we hope you enjoy slowing down for a bit.
We are located in Surrency, Georgia within Appling County. You will be
- 15 minutes to Baxley
- 20 minutes to Alma, Jesup, or Blackshear
- 40 minutes to Waycross
- 20 minutes to a wal-mart. (Baxley)
- 10 minutes to Dollar General (Surrency, Bristol)
Things to know
NO WIFI
That's right. Currently, we do not have WIFI. We probably will eventually, but we have found out that being unplugged has its perks. Take the time to enjoy the "little" things in life; for example:
- pick up two pecans from the orchard (in season) and crack them together in your palms for a quick snack
- rock in the rockers on the front porch
- enjoy a cup of coffee with the sunrise or the sunset
- take a stroll on the dirt road
- read any of our books or devotionals
- play a game
- color
- watch a movie from our favorite collection
NEighbors
This location is private, quiet, and secluded. On occasion, however, you may witness children riding through the orchard on golf carts. (Unless it's PECAN season) They may wave and say hello, but that's just our southern hospitality. We say "HEY" to everyone! That's how we were raised. It's rude if we don't! We are all family in this orchard.

Living Room
Check out the charm this tiny home offers. The living area provides an abundance of natural light with front and side views of the pecan orchard. 4-5 people can sit comfortably in the living room. Enjoy watching movies on our brand new 50 inch smart television. The "camel couch" lets out into a queen bed, comfortably sleeping 4 in our home. Sheets and cover for couch bed are in the closet if needed. Help yourself to any of our games or coloring activities. The fireplace adds a nice cozy feel to your stay and can be moved anywhere in the home.
Kitchen
Our farmhouse inspired kitchen combines modern finishes with rustic country charm. There is more than enough space for you to cook a meal with our full size, stainless steel appliances. The table has seating for 4 and when not in use, slides under the table to maximize space. The Keurig coffee maker can be used for individual cups up to 10 ounces. Help yourself to any coffee pods, hot chocolates or ciders that are in the cabinet.
Bedroom
This cozy bedroom features a queen bed with Serta mattresses. We've also added instant comfort with a Serta 2 inch memory-foam mattress topper. Its premium breathable foam provides uplifting support that helps to ease pressure on joints.
The closet contains sheets and covers for the couch bed and extra towels and wash cloths for the bathroom. The room includes multiple outlets for charging convenience, a window unit for easily controlled temperature, a small electrical heater, a ceiling fan, a rolling tv stand, and rear entry to the tiny home.
Bathroom
This spacious bathroom continues with the modern, farmhouse rustic theme. Guests have 4 towels and washcloths with an extra set of towels in the bedroom closet. Be sure to bring your own styling appliances.
